Even though these are clearly ITSSAR standard training steps, I just hate the fact you're required to engage the handbreak at every stop. It's essentially a useless step as it's something you will realistically never do in an actual working environment. I've worked as a FLT driver for over 2 years now, and the only time I engage the handbreak (or footbreak in my case) is when I stop to get off the truck, as it's just far too time consuming to constantly apply the handbreak at every stop.

Why does he not check over both shoulders before moving forward. Why does he only look behind before moving off in reverse, and not looking in the direction of travel whilst reversing, pretty poor for a training video to be honest.

Just a tip, if you follow these guidelines you will be sacked for being too slow. I've seen it happen first hand with people who insisted doing it as per the training guidelines of using handbrake etc. You zoom in, hard turn, drop it in the fuckin rack level and back out while barely stopping. Thats the reality. If the rack is high then you're already raising your tynes to the right level as you approach and turn into it.

Very good operating, just an observation when touching the back steel bar while reversing, it's unsafe as yr hand can get hurt by the racking system. The safety rule says: " keep your body limbs inside the confined space of the truck".

Applying the parking brake in between each move while putting a pallet away is like teaching someone to apply the parking brake during each step of parallel parking a car, or applying the parking brake at every stop sign, stop light, or when stopping for a pedestrian crossing the street. It just is not realistic. If you do that every time you put a pallet away you will never get anything done and your production will suffer greatly. Putting the lift in neutral or having your foot firmly on the brake pedal is plenty.

and if you follow this instructions, everyone is gonna call you slow and stupid.
